Insomnia can come as a result of many issues which include stress, heart problems, some of the medication and drugs, alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, hormonal level changes and menopause can also be a cause of insomnia. It is never something that is easy to cope with insomnia to be honest. At one point in my life I was also a victim and I know exactly how it feels so you are not alone. During the days I had fallen prey to insomnia I would watch movies all night, not because I had planned to watch the movies but just because I was failing to sleep. Come daytime I would just be feeling weak and I remember my mother suspecting that I was pregnant because she believed that feeling weak was a sign of pregnancy. And I wouldn't blame her because most if not all the symptoms of insomnia link with symptoms of pregnancy.
I had become tired of being tossed like a coin by insomnia as it did whatever it wanted with me. At first I went to the hospital hoping that maybe I could get medication. At the hospital some drugs were prescribed to me but unfortunately they did not help. I decided to find ways to help myself out and I took my diary and decided to write what I was going to do to help myself out. I was shocked that my ideas really worked and I want to share those ideas with you not any other time but now.
- do away with alcohol, caffeine and drugs - these will get you high and hyper and will only give you nothing but sleepless nights, hangovers and strong headaches
- make sure to do all chores possible during daytime so that come night time you will not be feeling under pressure instead you will feel exhausted and your body will be craving that rest pushing you to get some sleep
- do away with stress please you are doing yourself no good. It will not only give you sleepless nights but it will give you other problems like personality disorders, arrogance and many other effects.
- have a sleep routine and stick to it. By this I mean get to bed at the same time everyday 7 days per week and make sure you get enough sleep time which is 8 hours for adults.
- take a hot bath everyday before bed. this will help your body to relax and your mind as well
- avoid drinks before you sleep this will not disturb you while you are sleeping to go and take out that water in the midst of your sleep at the bathroom.
- have regular exercises and meditations
- and also important keep your sleep environment comfortable.
